Contemporary Visual and Dramatic Art

In the post World War II era, two major fields appear to have significantly impacted the nature of commerce and cultures in the west. CVD is an acronym for these two fields: Contemporary Visual and Dramatic Art, which together comprise the totality of material generated through the media and entertainment industry.
Currently Berlin occupies a unique position as a unique and highly significant cultural and commercial hub in Central Europe. 240 million people visit the capital every year, a rate that is expected to increase within a few years, and which will have a powerful impact on media and entertainment. This, coupled with a wide range of long-term government-backed initiatives, public funding and private and institutional investments, means the city is poised to play a significant role in media and entertainment in the short term and during the coming decades. We are taking advantage of this unique cultural and economic make-up in Berlin: through CVD we aim to develop a comprehensive monographic program that will create the necessary academic standing for the city in major events in the areas that concern CVD, Contemporary Visual and Dramatic Art.

One of the major fields of focus in BOAD BROS' CVD is an academic contextualisation of artistic movements that have transformed and shaped the nature of cinematography and photography as well as drama, music and performance. Undertaken under the title CVD, all the productions and commissions related to this theme will be subject to an academic program supported by a multi-channel media platform, including monographic exhibitions, publications and symposia as well as motion picture documentaries.

We are very proud to present + Björn Albert's Sky Landing Gear and Adrien Broom's Body of Light, The Essence of Being as the initial projects for CVD.
